Chapter History, Meetings, and Activities
Deutsche Kinder Chapter held its organizational meeting on October 27, 1977 and was chartered on July 8, 1978. The chapter has 57 members, most of whom are from the City of Grand Forks and surrounding area; but the chapter has several out-of-state members as well. Meetings are held monthly on the fourth Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. in the Community Room at 4000 Valley Square, 4000 24th Avenue South, Grand Forks, North Dakota. The meeting usually includes a program, a business session and refreshments. While the programs may relate to many topics, the focus remains on subjects of interest to people of German descent, and particularly Germans from Russia.
Deutsche Kinder Chapter has involvement in several events in our community, including East Grand Forks Heritage Days in August, German America Day on October 6 at the International Centre at the University of North Dakota, and the Master Chorale’s “Folk on the Red” Concert. The Chapter presents an annual achievement award to a local student who is involved in German studies. A picnic is held in July and a Christmas party, which includes the singing of Christmas songs in German, occurs the first Sunday in December. The chapter has hosted two International Conventions.
Activities and meetings of Deutsche Kinder Chapter are published in the Grand Forks Herald, and anyone with an interest in the group is welcome to attend and participate.Meetings and Events

April 25, 2006 - 6:30 P.M. - SPECIAL PROGRAM - Speaker will be author,
Annelee Woodstrom, from Ada, Minnesota. She will be discussing her book, "War
Child: Growing UP in Adolf Hitler's Germany." This will be a public event with
